ISZAM KAMAL BIN ISMAIL( LLB Hons Advocate & Solicitor High) Court Of Malaya
Being an advocate & solicitor and currently a senior partner in Messrs Iszam Kamal & Hazlan, in Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh, he specialized in the area of corporate, civil and criminal litigation (ie 39B cases, habeas corpus cases etc). He had the experience in handling and winning high profile cases such as the defamation case between Fauziah Ahmad Daud (Ogy) and Azwan Ali; murder cases such as PP vs Azman bin Dato’ Ismail (2007) (the case of Man Dato’) and PP vs Salina (2006), drug cases such as Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act. PP vs Phoon Wai Yee (JBHC), whereby he succeded in all of the cases above mentioned.
He received his early education in King Edward VII School, Taiping and completed his STPM as school deputy Head Perfect.
Before furthering his studies in the school of Law in UiTM he was a teacher in King George School Taiping and Sekolah Sg Kluang Perak.
Upon graduation he was a Legal Assistant in the Legal Unit of the Administration and Corporate Division of Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka. He is familiar with arbitration cases, disciplinary matters, intellectual property matters such as copyright, trademark, and was also involved in the drafting of the Amendment to Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka Act.
He had undergone practical training as a conveyancing executive in Messrs Yaacob & Rakan-Rakan in Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan and Messrs Zain & Co, Kuala Lumpur. He had been entrusted in preparing Sale and Purchase Agreement of Properties, Tenancy Agreements, Leases, Securities Documents, Loans Documentations and etc. Iszam Kamal also had been trained by Rusli Zain & Associates a former Deputy Public Prosecutor handling cases i.e.- criminal, drug trafficking, harbeas corpus cases, forfeiture of property matters, murder cases (section 302 Penal code) etc.; and he was also under the guidance of the late Mr. Sidney Augustin a lawyer who was also a former top ranking police officer in Malaysia.
He underwent his chambering with Messrs Amir Amin & Ruhana and Messrs Sharifah & Associated under the guidance of Sharifah A. Alsagoff in Kuala Lumpur where he gained invaluable experiences in the fields of corporate and banking matters involving private limited companies and banks such as the incorporation of companies, public listed companies and joint venture matters.
He then joined Messrs Amir Yussof & Zol in Ampang Point Kuala Lumpur. He was made a partner upon joining Messrs Abd Gani Che Man & Co, where in he was appointed as the Head of Litigation Department both in Kuala Lumpur and Shah Alam offices.
During the Asian economic turmoil in 2000, Iszam Kamal contributed his services to our nation when he was requested to join the Malaysian Institure of Corporate Governance (MICG) under the leadership of Y. Bhg Dato’ Megat Najmuddin khas, in enhancing corporate governance to build global competitiveness for Malaysian companies, he had the experience in conducting various seminars and international conference from formulation to actualization in the pursuit of corporate goals within the larger context of the nation, its people and global environment. He also being send to various ministries in Malaysia for attachment and working on adhoc basis from time to time.
His wide experience in spearheading MICG and networking with various organizations and corporations inter alia, United Nation, Asian Development Bank, Asian Institute of Management, Commonwealth Association for Corporate Governance (CACG), Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development Bank Governance (CACG), Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD), Bloomberg, Reuters, Asia Europe Institute, Ministry of Finance, KLSE, RIIAM, MAICSA, FPLC, MIA, MTEN, INTAN, Securities Commission, local & foreign universities, Institute of Diplomacy & Foreign Relations (IDFR), Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, (ACA), police (PDRM) and etc had provide the firm with a wider spectrum in reaching our objectives.

He is also actively involved in our franchise industry presenting papers in workshops, seminars etc for the franchise/ franchisors, attending local and international conferences conducted by Malaysian Franchise Association, Kementerian Pembangunan Usahawan (KPUN), PNS and etc.
He is also a legal counsel for Francorp Malaysia a world wide Franchise Consultancy which is based in Chicago, United States of America.
During his students days in UiTM, he had a keen interest in organising games, events, seminars ie being appointed as the Chairman for the Inter Varsity Law School Moot and Games 1991 in UiTM, organizing Law School Dinner, Treasure Hunt, Inter Faculty Rugby and attended the Officers Training Unit (ROTU) in UiTM.
He excels in sports and has represented Intekma Lions, Taiping Tigers, Legal Eagles and the State of Perak in various rugby tounaments in the late 80s and early 90s. Currently he is the Hon. Secretary for X-Lions Rugby Club, which is one of the best rugby teams in our local scene in late 90s. He also has wide experience in organizing and managing various activities for Dewan Perniagaan Melayu ie conducting Seminar such as Seminar Keusahawanan Menghadapi Era globalisasi in January 2003 in Kuantan Pahang, creating Minggu ICT Melaka and Minggu ICT Pahang for Unit Perancangan Ekonomi Negeri (UPEN) in 2003.
Iszam was also involved in the success of obtaining the rights to bring in World Cenference of IFTDO – International Federation of Training & Development Organizations in Kuala Lumpur for the year 2006.
He also keeps himself actively involved in writing articles in various periodicals and magazines such as Dewan Ekonomi and also doing translation works, for various organisations.
